Job Overview:
- . The Senior Accountant will play a critical role in managing the company’s financial health by ensuring sound accounting practices, accurate reporting, and compliance with statutory regulations.
- . The ideal candidate will oversee all accounting operations, from financial analysis and reporting to budgeting,inventory control, and tax management.
- . Given the company’s involvement in the sales and distribution of technological communication products, the . Senior Accountant will also manage vendor reconciliations, track cost of goods sold, monitor cash flow from sales channels, and provide strategic insights to support management decisions.
- . This role requires a high degree of accuracy, analytical skill, and integrity to ensure financial transparency and business growth.
Key Responsibilities>
Financial Accounting & Reporting:
- . Prepare and maintain accurate and up-to-date financial statements and records.
- . Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual management reports.
- . Ensure compliance with FIRS & LIRS and other relevant accounting standards.
- . Conduct regular reconciliation of bank accounts, vendor accounts, and inventory balances.
- . Manage fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
Budgeting & Financial Planning:
- . Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process, ensuring alignment with business goals.
- . Analyze actual performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying variances and recommendingcorrective actions.
- . Develop financial models and projections to support strategic business planning.
Taxation & Regulatory Compliance:
- . Ensure accurate and timely filing of all statutory obligations including VAT, PAYE, WHT, Pension, and Company . Income Tax in compliance with FIRS and LIRS regulations.
- . Manage relationships with external auditors, tax authorities, and consultants to ensure compliance
- and audit readiness.
- . Maintain proper documentation for tax audits and financial reviews.
Inventory, Cost & Sales Accounting:
- . Oversee accurate valuation of inventory.
- . Track cost of goods sold (COGS) and ensure correct cost allocation to product categories.
- . Collaborate with procurement, logistics, and sales teams to ensure accuracy of stock and sales data.
- . Monitor product margins and profitability, advising management on pricing or cost-saving opportunities.
Accounts Payable & Receivable Management:
- . Supervise the processing of vendor invoices and ensure timely payments.
- . Monitor customer accounts, ensuring prompt invoicing and collection of receivables.
- . Maintain effective credit control systems to minimize bad debts
- . Conduct regular reconciliations of customer and supplier accounts.
- . Manage cash advances, staff reimbursements, and expense reporting.
Internal Control & Team Management:
- . Implement and maintain sound internal control systems to safeguard company assets.
- . Review and approve financial transactions posted by junior accounting staff.
- . Train and mentor accounting team members, ensuring adherence to company policies and standards.
Cash Flow & Treasury Management:
- . Monitor daily cash flow to ensure availability of funds for operations.
- . Prepare cash flow forecasts and advise management on liquidity positions.
- . Manage relationships with financial institutions and recommend investment or financing optionswhen necessary.
