Mid-level Accountant (MLA0126)

Job Summary:

• We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Mid-Level Accountant to join our finance team.
• The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounting processes, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations, and providing financial insights that support business growth and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded.
• Maintain the general ledger and perform periodic account reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and statements.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
• Monitor cash flow and ensure timely processing of payments and collections.
• Conduct bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Assist in budget preparation, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
• Ensure compliance with tax regulations, statutory requirements, and company policies.
• Support internal and external audit processes by providing required documentation and information.
• Maintain proper filing and safekeeping of financial records and supporting documents.
• Monitor inventory-related financial transactions and ensure accurate stock valuation.
• Identify opportunities for improving accounting processes and internal controls.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably within the retail sector.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and Nigerian tax regulations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software such as Sage, QuickBooks, ERP systems, or similar platforms.
• Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Professional certification such as ICAN, ACCA, or ACA (completed or in progress) is an added advantage.
• Experience in inventory accounting and retail financial operations.
• Knowledge of payroll administration and statutory remittances.
